bird of paradise

I may have just bought a flamingo from Paperchase...

Just a Christmas decoration? I think not.

Looks crate!

With change from £20, my new bookcase is stacked full and ready within minutes of the door buzzer.

Take that Ikea flat pack!

My super-speedy and bargain crates are from East2Eden

For instructions to make my owl doorstop project (or bookend if you can't bear to put it on the floor!) head to the Your Home website...

Bit on the side

I love looking back at my own pinterest boards. Not just for the fact that I must have liked it in the first place, but because it shows the inner workings of my mind...I ALWAYS get totally carried away and go overboard on searching for one particular thing and pinning everything in sight.

Like sideboards.
Then colourful sideboards.
And then revamped sideboards.
And then I pinned pretty much the whole of Lucy Turner's sideboard/chest collection. But look, they are beautiful...

Pineapples, flamingos and parakeets?! Amazing...

Anyway, back to my point.

On a recent trip to John Lewis, I not only spotted some rather stylish but rather expensive Lucy Turner pieces, but also some much more affordable (although slightly damaged) furniture, see below...
(how could I resist, it was reduced from £600 ish to £50!)

The perfect excuse to try out some revamping (a la retro pineapple) as well as house my sewing machine and several thousand buttons.

Crate expectations

I'm running out of space. Piles and piles of interior magazines (not sure whether I'm ever going to look at them again but you never know...surely it would be a crime to chuck them?) and a fair few craft books. The piles are out of control so this week's project is to create some cheap storage. After a little pinterest research, I'm going for crates...cheap, easy to get hold of and just the right size to make shelves.

Watch this space for pics when they arrive...

Back to bed

Being in an industry with lots of launches and previews, means I see a lot of lovely things almost every day. But I haven't seen a bed with such an interesting design for a long time as this Suma bed by Ercol which I spotted at the John Lewis A/W press launch a while ago. I love the gradating headboard, rounded spindles and Japanese, graphic effect it creates...

Feeling blue

I love this shot from the Heals A/W lookbook. The geometric shapes of the Bau pendant light look striking against the steely blues and teals of the Zoffany Verdure wallpaper by Melissa White.Although it's based on wall linen which were used to decorate walls in the 17th Century, there's something enchanting and mystical, almost Eastern-inspired feel to it which makes me want to go on an adventure!

Top tape

I can't explain my love of Japanese washi tape, striped, spotted in the palest pastel shades make me want to tape everything i own with its neat geometric lines.

I even did a shoot inspired and including this magical tape which was featured recently in Wedding magazine (photos: Holly Jolliffe)...

So when I saw a recent post on the decor8 blog about the launch of MT casa, jumbotape which can be used in the home. Imagine...walls, floors, cupboards, kitchens, ceiling.... Instant updates, colour and prints, suitable for a rented flat. Yippee!

Apparently it's launching at this year's Top Drawer in January so watch this space!
