Just spotted these fab upcycled lamp shades from Donna Walker Designs

What a great, easy and cheap way to give a shabby lamp a striking update!

Monochrome magic

It turns out it's not just Louis Vuitton SS13 collection which rocks the monochrome checkerboard look.

Linear, slightly sixties and thankfully not a midriff in sight, this magazine cabinet from Scandi designer A2 is quite simply stunning.

Welcome to smartville

Surely it's always a winning combination when two design-focused brands put their heads together? Smart (yes, the cars) and high end highstreet BoConcept have just launched their new range, all based on the idea that a small space shouldn't compromise design. Which I wholeheartedly agree with.

Particular highlights include the Smartville chair, based on a Smart's car seat (seat belt omitted luckily).

And this wooden clock, based on the dashboard timepiece design.

Bit on the side - part 2

Remember my bargain (but damaged) buy from John Lewis?

A little filler, a good sand down and a couple of coats of spray paint later and I'm happy to reveal the transformation...

After much colour deliberation, I used two shades of emerald green spray paint, the a lighter hue on the front doors. As a nod to Lucy Turner's clever designs, I left the dark wood stain exposed on the legs and round the sides. Finished with an Amy Butler wallpaper sample with a striking retro print on the front panel and inside drawer front, it's ready...and I love it!

Yes, my Christmas tree is now covered in plastic dinosaurs! Colourful, cheap and extinct, what's not to love?

Very nice

Spotted this great rug at the Very.co.uk press show yesterday, amongst some rather nice ikat-print cushions. At £189 it's a great way of adding a pop of colour to a plain floor. I think I like it so much because it looks like Pom Pom trim (which if left alone with me may be attached to everything I own)

French kissing

I visited the Littlewoods Spring/Summer preview on Wednesday. The highlight had to be this 'French Kiss' bed from the new Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen collection. Priced at under £400, it's a great statement piece
